- Bill Kuhar of Bethlehem, PA reports a CD 110 but
shows BROOKFIELD on the front and PAT. OCT. 8 1907 on the back!
- Larry Rogers of Bangor, ME reports a CD 104 New. Eng. Tel. & Tel.
Co. base embossed National Insulator Co.
- Doug Parks of Ogallalla, NE reports a large glass bushing with no
markings noted.
- Bob Hickman of Milford, NJ reports a CD 1038 glass cutter insulator.
- Arlene Harris of Ossian, IN provides information on the First National
Show to be held in New Castle, IN.
- Article by William C. Stauber "The Insulator as a Candle
Holder".
May 1970:

- Charlie Irons reports a CD 324 carnival Pyrex, , and Chet Handley a CD
190/191 two piece California tramp.
- Arnold Wight of Lake Grove, OR reports a CD 134 Westinghouse No. 6.
- Marcia Woods of Durango, CO a CD 181 pluto in light aqua found near
Silverton, CO.
- Ted Routson of Milwalkee, OR reports an Armstrong's Whitall Tatum
paper weight with a CD 155 (The drawing
shows the CD 155 upside down).
- Bob Shields of Escondido reports that he was told by a lineman that
many of the CD 139 U.S.L.D. insulators were taken down in 1940 along
Highway #1.
- C.H.Turner - Part three of a book length feature about the development
of the pin tyoe insulator "Transmission Line Insulators"
including two and a half pages of good information.

glass CD 135 Chicago diamond.
- Larry Rogers of Bangor, ME reports a 146.4 full of bubbles.
- Karen Anderson of New Bedford, MA reports a CD 139 Combination Safety.
- Oliver O'Dell of Highland Falls, NY reports a black glass threadless
marked J. S. KEELEY - It is likely this is actually a CD 729.3 J.S.
KEELING.
- Harry Hallam of Upper Darby, PA reports a CD 796 Oakman's Patent
threadless.
- Joe Maurath reports a CD 113 Westinghouse No. 4 in light olive.
- Doug Bowman (I assume this is Dick Bowman) of Webster, NY reports a CD
126 RD 149959 in cloudy light blue.
July 1970:

- A picture of spools and LRIs owned by Phil Mayhew of Collinsville, CT.
- Dennis Rogers of Ontario, CA reports a CD 263 Oakman Columbia, a CD
244 Purple Pamona, a CD 159 Gregory Patent, a LRI, a CD 140 Oakman
Jumbo, a CD 269 Jumbo and a CD 199 Prism.
- There is a full page dedicated to the various Denver styles and
embossings.
- John Schall of Santa Paula, CA reports a white
milk glass CD 164 McLaughlin//No 20 - Francis Terrill indicated that she
had received color photographs of this piece and indicated that the
McLaughlin had a little bigger dome and was a little shorter than the
Maydwell counterpart.
August 1970:

- Karl Thompson reports a fruit jar marked on the bottom BROOKE / MAKER
/ 86 FULTON ST. / NY - Interesting as it is close to the Brookfield
address.
- Vince Mullenhoff of Des Moines, IA reports a CD 292.5 Knowles 6.
- Arlene Harris of Ossian, IN reports a gray porcelain marked Fred Locke
insulator that just has a dent underneath. The drawing shows this
to most likely to the top shell of a glaze weld piece.
- David Campbell of Salem, OR reports a U-186 Purkey patent.
- Jack Kesling of Warner Robbins, GA reports a 158.9 Boston Bottle
Works.
- Harry Clements of Millville, NJ reports that his father worked at the
Whitall Tatum & Armstrong factories for fifty years and that a
salesman, Earl Duboise, had three types of salesman samples made after
Armstrong took over in 1938
- A full page article on CD 123 EC&M insulator colors and
variations.
September 1970:
- Insulator By-Lines by Frances Terrill - Pages 10-13
- Both the CD 180 Liquid insulator and the CD 180.5 Fluid insulator are
shown although Francis makes the statement that he thinks they are identical
except for the embossing. Francis has the Liquid and Gerald &
Esta Brown of Two Buttes, CO have the Fluid. Both were found in
Oregon.
- Bob Pierce reported some on the New Castle, IN show and lists some of
the many insulators available for sale.
- Larry Dively of Friedens, PA reports four different dome embossed
Brookfield CD 102 ponies.
- Greg Everett of Abilene, TX (11 years old) reports a yandell's patent
CD 1010
- A short review of "The Collectors Guide For Glass
Insulators" by Cranfill & Kareofelas was provided.
- C.W. Halbert of Channelview, TX reports a CD 116.5 B.
- A letter from Fred Champion of Bakersfield, CA said yellow California
insulators are being made from SCA by a heating and cooling process
(Indicating this practice was going on as early as 1970). There
was also mention of new carnival glass insulators.
October 1970:

- Frank Jones of Cottontown, TN provided a picture of 14 glass block
insulators in different colors. There is also general information
on glass blocks.
- A new Boston CD is pictured in a drawing (CD 158.1 wavy groove)
- Broce Davison of Heniker, NH reports a CD 268.5 Standard Glass
Insulator Co. cable.
- Norman Ellis of Winterhaven, FL reports a CD 128 Hemingray E-14B in
opalescent.
- Edward Milner of Columbia, SC reports an unusual S.B.T,&T,Co.
spool with a large base.
- Francis Terrill reports a CD 737 Leffert's threadless.
- Jim Darby of Manchester, CT reports a CD 245 T-H 9200.
- James Xiggores reports a CD 211 Brookfield No Leak D.
- A show report by Dennis Donovan on the First National Insulator Swap

November 1970:

- Ed Milner of Columbia, SC reports a CD 127 base embossed Homer Brooks.
- Harry Emery of Schokorie, NY reports a neat bushing marked R5070.
- Joe Maurath reports locating an additional D 134 Pettingell Andrews as
well as a CD 102 Westinghouse No. 3 in a vivid cobalt. It was
noted that N.R. Woodward found some CD 102 Westinghouse No. 3 ponies in
Portland that were a vivid blue.
- Marvin Collins of Eureaka, CA reports CD 123 EC&Ms in yellow
amber, dark aqua, cobalt blue, and olive. He also reports
the CD 164 unembossed sage that is attributed to California.
- A short note from Dora Harned, editor of "Crown Jewels of the
Wire" - It is noted that Don & Dora's collection has over one
thousand different insulators.
- John Neal reports a Folembray "Ginger Bread Man' and calls it a
"bat ears" - In 1970 the nickname for these must not have been
established!
- Bobbie Brown of Fernandina Beach, FL reports a S.B.T.&T. spool in
light aqua.
- There is a two page article on the CD 126, 126.3, and 127 dome
embossed Brookfields.
December 1970:
- Insulator By-Lines by Frances Terrill - Pages 12-16
- Brent Mill's provides information on the Boch patent for glaze filling
and the R. Thomas & Sons Co. in Ohio and the patent infringement of
Fred Locke
- There is a picture of the CD 304/310 "coolie hat".
- Gene Bradberry of Memphis, TN reports an emerald green Hemingray/No.9//Patent/May
2 1893 CD 106 with the reverse side of a V nickle making a very clear
imprint.
- N.R. Woodward indicates he thinks the Standard Glass Insulator Co.
molds were made by Oakman. He also indicated that he had taken
Hemingray D-510's both with and without metal inserts off of abandoned
lines.
- "Collecting the Colorful California's" by Francis Terrill
which includes drawings of the known styles.
