- Odell Keane of Pikeville, KY reports the full set of four Chambers
insulators CD 124.5, CD 132.4, CD 317, and CD 317.5
- Mickey and Ellie Dutcher of Cortland, NY report the rare CD 141.9
Emmingers as well as a CD 204 Locke cross top.
- Frank Jones of Cottontown, TN reports a set of 14 different
composition and metal feeder wire insulators as well as a picture of his
glass insulator collection.
- Dielene Colman reports glass table leg insulators marked W & B
Mfg. Co. N.Y. and provided a picture of two of these.

- Harold Downing of Grant City, MO reports a CD
145 H.G.Co Petticoat (K over H.G.Co.) in deep sapphire blue - Terrill
thinks the picture looks closer to cobalt or peacock. could this be the
same piece as shown at: insulators.info?
- Also reported is an unusual amber dish-like
insulator marked WARE BATTERY INSULATOR, PATENTED 1900.
- Also pictured is a Brookfield/New York CD 102 in light purple
- Mention is made of Larry Veneziano's No. 2 Columbia reproductions to
alert collectors to their existence.
- Robin Hanson of Bedford, MA reports finding an old New England Tel.
& Tel. dump and finding CD 104s, CD 190/191 A.T.& T., and pieces
of CD 110.5 with the straight New Eng. Tel. & Tel. marking.
- Reed Kosmal of Verona, PA reports a CD 185 Star mine insulator.
- Discussion on the CD 145 marked E.D.R. and the Edmonton, Dunvegan
& British Columbia railway.
- Pictured are three different horizontal ridged CD 143 Withycombs.
- Charles Mosier of Kearney, NE reports some
johnny balls marked A. J. & M. Anderson Mfg. Co. - It does not state
glass or porcelain.
- There is a book review of Jack Tod's book
"Porcelain Insulators Guidebook for Collectors"
- Thomas Wolfe of Auburn, NE reports miniature Brookfield insulators
marked WESTERN ELECTRIC/BROOKFIELD STANDARD. He acquired six of
these.
- Ray Cole of Williamson, West Virginia reports a CD 196 H.G.Co. No. 51
in light purple.
June 1972:
- Insulator By-Lines by Frances Terrill- Pages 51-55
- Bob Pierce sent a copy of the trademark (He calls it a patent) for the
Knowles Prism marking - It is trademarked as an Emerald and both the
marking and the term emerald glass are covered. The date of the
trademark is December 1, 1901. A 1902 Stuart-Howland catalog page
showing Knowles insulators is included.
- Penny and Aubrey Branham report a glass encased
Brooks style insulator with an unusual hook at the end. The bottom
of the glass is embossed Pat. Oct. 8th 1867, July 26th, 1870.
- Forrest Jones of New Carlisle, OH reported a U-982 Bennington
threadless.
- First report of a CD 121 Standard Glass Insulator Co. toll
- Vivian Jones sent pictures of the Niagara line poles showing U-937 and
U-966 insulators
August 1972:
- Insulator By-Lines by Frances Terrill - Pages 36-40
- Howard Dean had reported an SCA Armstrong DP1 and was asked to test
the color with acetone. The color came off showing this as an
early example of a stained insulator!
- Letter from John Wise of La Habra, CA raising the concern on rising
insulator prices. Example given was the CD 303/310 Muncie selling
at $35.00 where a similarly sized Pyrex would be $5.00.
- Don Wentzel indicates he is confident the olive green tinted Armstrong
DP1 is genuine.
- Four porcelain insulators are pictured U-183 Ransome Patent, U-184
Harloe Patent, U-189A Manwaring and Hessel Patent, and U-186 Purkey
patent
- A letter from William McLaughlin describing working at the R. Good
factory in Denver as a boy
- Short article "Bauer's Fog Bowl" which credits Larry Bauer
with inventing the fog bowl style in 1949.
September 1972:

- Reed Kosmal reports a CD 144.5 base embossed with an Oakman patent
- Glenn Drummond and Dave Stirnkolb reported a CD 291 No. 5 smooth

- Pictured also is one of the slag glass car ashtrays that are
frequently confused with insulators
- A full page of drawings of unembossed glass insulator styles
- Announcement that at the Kansas City Meet (The 3rd National Show)
Warren Olson of Denison, Iowa was elected as temporary chairman of the organizational
committee of the National Association of Insulator Collectors.
John Hall was picked to draft a preliminary set of bylaws.
- A short show report on the Kansas City National
- Mention was made of a Harvey Simpson, President and Russel O'Berry
third Vice President of the Insulator Society of America based in
Manasquan, NJ.
October 1972:

- Mr. Rhines reports a ceramic glazed block insulator and bracket found
near Lake Tahoe.
- Bill Hungate of Klamath Falls, OR reports what is probably a CD 100.5
Pyrex.
- Insulator photo page showing Bill Hungate's display and the museum
owned display in the Favell Museum of Western Arts and Artifacts in
Klamath Falls, OR. The following CD's are also shown 321, 333,
303/310, 331, 133.2, 251, 262, and 264.
- Porcelain insulators shown are U-937, U-202, U-974, U-184 and U-1542
November 1972:

- Pictures of CD 701 and CD 740.3 threadless insulators
- R.M. Settle of Ottawa, ONT, Canada reports three small threadless
insulators found along the Battleford line and he nicknamed them
Battleford Baby Threadless. Shown are two CD 734.8 and a
third they refer to as CD 743, but I cannot identify the correct
CD.
- Frank Jones reports a metal and porcelain street
light insulator similar to one shown in a GE catalog. He also
shows a couple double horn gap lightning arrestors and a U-187 with a
cap.
- Article "Collecting the Patents" with
a full page of insulator drawings that correspond to patents.
- Insulator photographs of a small white foreign
porcelain, a U-970 porcelain threadless egg, A white foreign porcelain
power insulator marked GUNDRY -- Note that this same insulator is
discussed in the Fall 2003 PLEJ and is identified as a U-2494, A CD
736.7 threadless, A CD 700 magnetic egg, a Leffert's hook ramshorn, and
nine different CD 262 and CD 263 and CD 264 Columbia styles.
- William McLaughlin article about the time up to when
he started his insulator factory including some discussion about Western
Glass Co. in Denver.
