The ballots for the Central Region Vice President
were coming to my mailbox fast and furious for about three weeks but have
tapered down to near zero. I have had less than 25% of the ballots returned.
COME ON! You can do better than that!
Those
of you in the Central Region who have not voted, please go back to your Spring Drip
Points, read the resumes written by Jimmy Burns and Ed Peters, then remove
your ballot and VOTE! One of these two candidates will be your voice on the NIA
Board for the next three years. Don’t let a minority of the NIA Central Region
members select your voice on the Board! VOTE!
Remember
that you have until July 5, 2000 to submit your ballots to me. The instructions
for voting are on the ballots.
Be
sure to come to the NIA business meeting at the National in Bloomington,
Minnesota where I will be announcing the new Central Region Vice President.
I
bid you a fond farewell as your Nominations Chair. I have enjoyed this
opportunity to serve you and the hobby over the last four years. As many of you
know, I have been appointed the NIA Treasurer. I now look forward to serving you
and the hobby in this capacity.
See you in
Bloomington!
Dudley Ellis,
NIA #5085
Nominations Chairman
Show Standards Report
The Western Regional was held May 6 & 7 in
Enumclaw, Washington. The winner of
the "People's Choice Award" was Doug Smith, with a display entitled
"Insulators & Things".
This
was a display of insulators with other glass collectibles scattered within (like
lamps & lanterns), all set up on a step-ladder with little Christmas lights
strung around it .
The
"early bird" recognition is going to Jimmy Burns who has already
requested and received the NIA Ribbon for the Lone Star Insulator Club Show to
be held on August 19 in Houston, Texas. Good
job, Jimmy!
If
you want to have an NIA Ribbon to award for an outstanding display at your next
show, please let me know, and one will be on the way to you.
The
next report will be after the National Show, so look for a list of wonderful
displays. I love all the buying,
trading and selling that happens at the National Show, but, WOW!!! do members
ever have creative ideas and ways to display their insulators.
One very good reason to attend this year and every year in my opinion.

NIA #6154
