Unusual Porcelain Coffee Filter

These unusual white porcelain pieces are frequently mistaken for electrical insulators.  The top ceramic bulb will unscrew allowing the four ceramic discs to be removed.  This is actually a filter element from a coffee maker! 

This piece is marked: KENT PRODUCTS CO.  CHICAGO ILL. U.S. PAT 2,376,410
