In addition to the Awards for the displays, there were a number of additional awards given out as follows:
The Sterling Finch Memorial Award:
This award is presented annually by Kevin Lawless and Doug MacGillvary in the form of a donation of a Hardbound version of the History and Guide to North American Pintype Insulators, plus a price guide to the Scottsdale Civic Center Library in honor of show hosts Steve & Melanie Marks.
The Lon C. Holy Award:
This award is a set of No. 2 Columbia commemorative insulators donated by Larry and Mary Beth Veneziano. It was presented to Paul Gee of Union City, PA.
The Leonard L. Linscott Pioneer Award:
This award was presented by his widow Jacque Linscott and their five-year-old grandson Clay. The award was presented to Bill and Jill Meier of Carlisle, MA for their pioneering efforts on the internet with www.insulators.info!
The Crown Jewels of the Wire Peoples Choice Award:
The award winners selected by the readers of the magazine were John A. Buchholz for Lehigh Days -- Memories of a Railroad Lineman 1922-1932 and to Gary Kline for CD 162 H.G.Co. Embossing in Transition.
The N.R. Woodward Literary Award
This award is presented by the Lone Star Insulator Club to the author of the best research article. It was presented to Gary Kline for CD 162 H.G.Co. Embossing in Transition in the Aug./Sept. 1998 Crown Jewels.
NIA Outstanding Service:
This award was presented to Joe Beres for his outstanding job as NIA Membership Chairman for the past seven years. Joe has helped expand membership in the NIA to record numbers and has kept excellent records for each member. Joe also supports the major task of putting together the Annual Crown Jewels of the Wire / NIA membership directory that is so vital to our hobby.
NIA Lifetime Membership:
"Marshall" Dick Bowman is one of the most well known and respected collectors in this hobby. Dick is a charter member of the NIA and both He and Evelyn have attended many shows, and together hosted the Rochester, NY National show in 1983. Dick served as NIA Eastern Region Vice President for four years starting in 1991. Their hospitality and dedication to the hobby have positively touched many collectors!
