Philipp Rosenthal began business in Germany in 1884 in Asch, Bohemia and began production of white ware. In 1897 the company incorporated as Rosenthal & Co. AG. and begins marking their wares in 1907 with the Rosenthal name. In 1921 they cooperated with the Allgem. Elektrizitätsgesellschaft (AEG) on the field of technically used porcelain. In 1936 they fully merged with AEG of Berlin with AEG and Rosenthal each holding a 50% share to form (RIG) Rosenthal Isolatoren GmbH. Note that some of the early markings were simply a C over a year over an A.
