UNITED   STATES   PATENT   OFFICE

JAMES M. BROOKFIELD, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK

DESIGN FOR TELEGRAPH-INSULATOR.

Specification forming part of Design No. 9,858, dated March 20, 1877; application filed February 1, 1877.

[Term of patent 14 years]

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JAMES M. BROOKFIELD, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have originated an Improved Design for Telegraph insulators, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification, which drawing represents a side view of my insulator.

This design consists in the combination of a cylindrical shaft, a semicircular bead projecting beyond this shaft, a semicircular groove, and a hemispherical top, whereby a novel and ornamental appearance is imparted to my insulator.

In the drawing, the letter A designates my telegraph-insulator, which is formed with a cylindrical shaft, a, a semicircular bead, b, projecting beyond the surface of

said shaft, a semicircular groove, e, forming the hollow member, whereby the bead b, is connected to the hemispherical top d.

By these means an insulator is obtained which has a novel and ornamental appearance.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is--

The design for a telegraph insulator composed of a cylindrical shaft, a, a semicircular bead, b, a hollow member, c, and a hemispherical top, d, all as shown and described.

In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th day of January, 1877.

JAMES M. BROOKFIELD. [L.S.]
