In 1904 Nippon Toki Gomei Kaisha (NGK) was established to make porcelain and In 1905, a small piece of an insulator (picture appears to be a pie shaped wedge from a large multipart top skirt) was brought back to Japan from the U.S.A. It led them to make the decision to produce special high voltage insulators which started later that year. NGK Insulators Ltd. was established in 1919 as a spin-off of Noritake's Insulator Division.
