Fürstenberg was founded in 1747 by the court hunter Johann Georg von Langen on behalf of Duke Charles I of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. In 1888 they became a stock corporation. It is not known exactly when they started making porcelain insulators but for sure it was in or before the 1860s. They remain in business to this day but no longer make insulators.
