CD 722:

This style is known as "Wade".  This early style was designed by Jeptha Wade to have a glass cup covered by a wooden cover to protect the insulator.  These were extensively used in the 1850's. A few have been found with the wood intact.  This particular version which still has come remnants of tar used between glass and wood is smaller than the typical styles and was found in Canada.
